By Madeleine McCormick/Dave Bohl Feb 25, 2021 (Des Moines, IA) A man is in the Polk County jail after police say he stabbed a woman and lit a southeast Des Moines hotel room on fire while high on meth. Police say officers were called to the Hawkeye Motel late Wednesday night and found a woman with stab wounds in the parking lot and the hotel room on fire. The woman told police she was smoking meth with 54-year-old James Cason when he started stabbing her, then lit the hotel room on fire and left. Cason later returned to the scene, where officers took him into custody. He s now facing charges of willful injury causing serious injury, domestic assault, and first-degree arson. ....
