ABINGTON – Annalise Messina secured the draw control, dashed down the field and sent a shot into the back of the net, giving the Upper Moreland girls lacrosse team the lead just 11 seconds into the fourth quarter. “I think we just needed a momentum shift,” Messina said. “Abington had it in one of the quarters and I think we just needed the momentum shift for the fourth quarter. ABINGTON As she makes the long walk to the penalty spot, Sara Kaeser can’t help but think about it. The junior, a defensive anchor for Abington at center back, is used to going to the other end of the field but usually at a jog or sprint running up to be a target on a corner or free kick before jolting back to defense. When it’s time to take a penalty kick, everything changes. Kaeser’s penalty kick goal got No. 9 Abington on the right foot even though she’s a lefty as the Ghosts downed reigning District 1-4A champion No. 24 Neshaminy 5-1 in Tuesday’s opening round.
