For nearly a century, the City of Kenora's downtown tree-lighting ceremony has marked the start of the festive season. But just before this New Year's Eve, the Main Street tree was downed by someone who used a chainsaw, and now OPP are investigating the Grinch-like act as mischief.

The open-air markets in downtown Kenora are returning this summer for a second year.
Dustin Fuller is the Vice President of the Kenora and District Chamber of Commerce and says it’s a chance for different groups to come together and support local.
“What’s nice about it is that Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic and replaced with a pop-up market,” says Fuller, “You’ll have local businesses, artisans, organizations and musicians and we hope to attract the same enthusiasm that we did last year.”
He tells us what motived them to start the markets last summer.
