COVID-19 has made it difficult for organizations attempting to raise charitable funds. The state of donations since COVID for us, and I imagine for all the other nonprofits, has been completely upended,” said Eric Tydingco, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Guam & CNMI.
“The traditional method for us of fundraising usually involved large, group gatherings. Our biggest was our annual gala. We meet at the Hyatt in the ballroom. There’s 400 people inside there and we generated a third of our annual revenue at just that event.”
So given social distancing and other current restrictions on congregating, the gala was canceled.
