But really, it is the nine year war, and it is part of an almost century long war for various colonial locations throughout the globe, in this case, particularly north america. Instead of telling the story of the seven years war as it is always told, which typically in north america is something along the lines of this is the war that set up the american revolution. This is the war that kicked the french out of north america, led the colonists to be more unified, and led to all of the crises that would culminate in the american revolution. There is a documentary that pbs put out not long ago and they call it the war that made america. This kind of storyline is an important one. And it is one we could sell, but because this is a course on a french Atlantic World, i wanted to focus on the war as it was experienced by the people we have been talking about all semester.
