2:30pm: Te Reo name gifted to ancient rimu Wellington’s oldest and tallest tree, the 800-year-old rimu in Ōtari-Wilton’s Bush, will officially be gifted the name Moko. The name Moko was decided after analysing the age and sex of the tree and was determined to be appropriate for a female tree, which is younger than Tāne Mahuta.

A burst water main in a northern Wellington suburb that had authorities telling nearby properties not to turn on their taps has been repaired. Eight properties in Grenada Village were given the warning by Wellington Water after the fault was found in a line connected to the Grenada South reservoir on Friday morning. An initial assessment estimated 100 households would be affected. Wellington Water spokesman Adam Reynard said a pipe had fractured overnight, causing the 506,000-litre reservoir s water level to dropped dramatically.
