Mumbai: The Search and Rescue (SAR) operations to locate and bring to safety the 390 missing persons off Mumbai coast in the Arabian Sea was on till late night on Tuesday. Till Tuesday evening the Indian Navy and Coast Guard had rescued 317 people on board two barges that went adrift. At least seven people were killed in Gujarat as Cyclone Tauktae battered parts of the state.  ....

Search and rescue continues for over 90 missing from sunk barge

Search and rescue operations continue for over 90 missing from a barge that sank 35 miles offshore Mumbai in cyclone Tauktau while 180 have been rescued.
The Indian Navy said that had rescued 180 from the Afcons Infrastructure barge Papaa–305 (P305) which broke anchor on 17 May in the cyclone and then sank.
The Navy said that five ships were involved in the search and rescue operations. “SAR has also been augmented with P8I and naval helicopters, who continue to undertake aerial search in the area,” it said in a Facebook post.
The P305 was on charter to Oil and Natural Gas Co (ONGC) and one of a number of offshore vessels and assets under operation for the oil company have been casualties of the cyclone. ....

Battling extreme weather, the Navy and Coast Guard have so far rescued 317 people on board two barges that went adrift in the Arabian Sea near Mumbai hours before Cyclone Tauktae made landfall on the Gujarat coast, but 390 more remain stranded or missing from offshore facilities, an official said on Tuesday.
The accommodation barge P305 which was servicing ONGC offshore operations has sunk, the official said, adding 180 of the 273 personnel on board were rescued till late evening.
Three barges and an oil rig with 707 personnel on board went adrift on Monday. These included barge P305 with 273 persons, cargo barge GAL Constructor with 137 personnel on board, accommodation barge SS-3 with 196 personnel on board and the Sagar Bhushan oil rig with 101 personnel on board, a Navy official said. ....
