Saylesville Friends Meetinghouse spreading light
In lieu of its candlelight Christmas service this year, the Saylesville Friends Meetinghouse is hosting a program to sponsor a solar light, one for each of its 317 continuous years of worship. (Breeze photo by Ethan Shorey)
LINCOLN – Solar lights cast a soft glow over the Saylesville Friends Meetinghouse, an unassuming building along Great Road where members of the community have convened for worship for more than 316 continuous years.
The original meeting house for Providence-area Friends and one of the oldest Quaker meeting houses in New England, the circa 1704 Saylesville Meetinghouse has stood the test of time.
