Commission talks voting machines, council discusses scooters The Barton County Commission and the Great Bend City Council both meet Monday, and both plan virtual meetings due to COVID-19 public gathering restrictions. The commission will meet at 9 a.m. Monday at the Barton County Courthouse, 1400 Main in Great Bend. The meeting will be open to the public but will also be streamed live due to COVID-19. It will be streamed through Microsoft Teams. Citizens may view the meeting through their own sign-in or by signing in anonymously.

Great Bend to host American Legion convention Marri Krupco Blue Mound native Marri Krupco, commander of the American Legion, Department of Kansas, will be in Great Bend this Saturday, April 10, when Post 180 hosts the District 7 Convention. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at the post, located at 1011 Kansas Ave., and all American Legion, auxiliary and related organizations are encouraged to attend. Boe Levingston, first vice president at Post 180, said District 7 currently leads the state in membership. The convention will also feature Great Bend Municipal Airport Manager Martin Miller, speaking about the 2021 AirFest. The convention is expected to wrap up around 4 p.m.
