The Sweet Springs FFA Chapter placed second in the FFA conduct of chapter meetings leadership development event at the 93rd Missouri FFA Convention. Sweet Springs team members are Kade Hudson, Arabella Bredehoeft, Lauren Shahan, Tyler Fenner, Tanner Dohrman, Kendall Brewer and Kendall Vogelsmeier. Sweet Springs advisors are Kristen Fenner and Brent Niemeyer. Participating teams present opening and closing ceremonies and demonstrate meeting procedure. Individual team members also take a written exam. Grand River Technical School sponsors this event and introduces ninth graders to parliamentary procedure. The Missouri FFA has 25,662 members representing 351 chapters. The national organization has more than 760,000 members representing 8,739 chapters in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. ....
CR-II School Board reorganizes Chillicothe News The Chillicothe R-II Board of Education reorganized on April 20, during a regular meeting held at the Grand River Technical School in Chillicothe. During the process, the board recognized Paul Thomas, who officially retired from the board after serving 12 consecutive years. New Board member Mitch Holder, was later sworn-in, along with incumbent Lindy Chapman. Both members were automatically elected to the board as there were only two candidates for the two available seats. According to a press release from Laura Schuler, secretary to the board of education and superintendent, the board also elected new officers that night. Officers for the newly-organized board are: Lindy Chapman, president; Clint Williams, vice president; Bill Hayen, treasurer; and Laura Schuler, secretary. All officers were elected by unanimous vote.
