Continuing Certification a Cash Cow for Emergency Medicine Board

email article The American Board of Emergency Medicine (ABEM) spent more than a half a million dollars on its two board of directors meetings in fiscal year 2018-2019. For its winter meeting, the organization flew about 30 board members and ABEM staff some accompanied by family members to Maui and lodged them for about a week at the luxury Fairmont Kea Lani resort. The total cost was $317,419, according to ABEM budget documents provided to MedPage Today. The board has held its winter meeting in Hawaii every year since at least 2003. It also holds summer meetings, usually on the U.S. mainland, at high-end resorts like the Ritz Carlton in Santa Barbara, California, the Coeur d Alene Resort in Idaho, and the Montage Resort in Park City, Utah.

Businesses hope to welcome more visitors as Kauai opts back in to Safe Travels program

Kauai businesses hope for a rebound as island prepares to welcome back trans-Pacific travelers Businesses rejoice as Kauai will rejoin the state s pre-travel testing program By Samie Solina | April 2, 2021 at 6:55 PM HST - Updated April 7 at 1:20 PM HONOLULU, Hawaii (HawaiiNewsNow) - Kauai will be re-entering Hawaii’s Safe Travels program Monday, and businesses are hoping for more trans-Pacific travelers. Kauai was part of the pre-travel testing program with all the other islands. But when cases rose in December, Mayor Derek Kawakami pulled the island out essentially halting almost all tourism. Since then, the island has welcomed back inter-island travelers and adopted resort bubbles.

Anatomy of an Award: My First (Hopefully) Post-COVID Trip to Hawaii

Anatomy of an Award: My First (Hopefully) Post-COVID Trip to Hawaii January 29, 2021 My last trip was February 2020. My wife and I returned home from an awesome week-long stay at Scrub Island Resort in the British Virgin Islands not knowing that it would be our last trip for a long time. We had tons of trips all over the world planned for 2020 that we would slowly begin cancelling one-by-one: 3 weeks in South Africa, a trip to Chile and Argentina, a few trips to Europe, and tons of domestic trips as well. Like many of you, we’ve been pretty cooped up for the last year or so. We’re eager to return to travel, but patiently waiting and waiting for things to become safer to do so. And while we aren’t there yet, there are certainly reasons to feel positive about travel returning in the not too distant future.

Why splurging on a bigger hotel room is worth every penny

Why splurging on a bigger hotel room is worth every penny Andrea M. Rotondo © Provided by The Points Guy MSN has partnered with The Points Guy for our coverage of credit card products. MSN and The Points Guy may receive a commission from card issuers. Editor’s note: This is a recurring post, regularly updated with new information and offers. One of my favorite things about working for TPG is hearing about everyone’s extremely varied travel styles. Individual likes and dislikes lead us to our own sweet spots when making trip plans. Looking back on my family’s hotel preferences, I realize that we almost never booked an entry-level hotel room. That got me to thinking about the reasons why. Though some things in our lives have shifted, this particular preference has stayed steady over time.
