are dead. cnn s kaylie has more on the story and we have been talking to people in various ways. this is tragic and horrible and has shaken up this small community. is this small and intimate community in the first baptist church with friends and neighbors. the shooting occurred in the middle of their sunday morning 11:00 a.m. church services. i spoke with a gas station cashier and she heard what she estimated to be 20 shots fired around 11:30 a.m. local. we learned from law enforcement that there was a brief pursuit of the suspect to that shooter now dead. first responders on the scene as they continue to assess the situation as one local official told us, 27 dead. that number continues to change. more than 20 injured. you can see ambulances on the scene. there have been air life support in the area as well as local hospitals doing all they can to help those wounded. this community, one in which everyone knows everyone. the shooter could be someone they know and a part of
