A new shopping center containing a Lidl grocery store and Raising Cane's chicken fingers restaurant will replace the shuttered Inolex factory near John's Roast Pork in South Philadelphia. Zoning permits have been issued to demolish the industrial facility at 16 Snyder Ave. The new retail space also will include a Shake Shack, Chase Bank and Advance Auto Parts store.
A development proposal at the corner of South Broad and Lombard streets now calls for a 43-story tower with 463 units next to the historic District Health Center One building in Center City. A previous plan discussed at the site had included a Virgin Hotel tower and a second tower, along with a theater and restaurant. New documents from the Philadelphia Historical Commission discuss plans for the restoration of the health center and the construction of the residential tower instead of a hotel.
A Virgin Hotel could be the centerpiece of a major mixed-used development project at Broad and Lombard streets in Philadelphia. Renderings of the project show a hotel tower on the large site that covers the city block bordered by South Broad, 15th, Lombard and South streets. The project is being led by The Goldenberg Group, The Badger Group and Harvey and Robert Spear.
