TACLOBAN CITY (PNA) – At least five close contacts of Mayor Alfred Romualdez tested positive for coronavirus disease (COVID-19) as the city government stepped up the contact tracing activity after he contracted the virus on December 10.
The five persons who also got infected were among the 18 close contacts of Romualdez who were subjected to swab tests. Of the five, four were asymptomatic and one had mild symptoms, City Health Officer Gloria Fabrigas said in a statement on Sunday.
“I do not see the mayor as the index case, as his executive assistants and other household helpers have tested negative. Swabbing of close contacts will continue till Sunday (Dec. 13),” Fabrigas added.
