Universities have duty to collaborate on global challenges Over the past 16 months, higher education has been tested by a once-in-a-century global health pandemic which has brought access and mobility challenges that have required us to find global solutions. But COVID-19 has only added to a long list of severely disruptive global challenges, like climate change, social inequality and the threat to international collaboration and exchange. Through this test, we now understand the effort needed to overcome threats of this magnitude and we have proven that even closer collaboration will be needed to overcome future challenges. Like many other university presidents, I have begun thinking of ways in which the institution I lead can harness its unique placement, its institutional character and its resources to take action.

UNDESA/Global Innovation Exchange – STI Forum 2021 Call for Innovations

Application Deadline: March 26, 2021. The STI Forum 2021 Call for Innovations is initiated by the United Nations Department for Economic and Social Affairs in collaboration with Global Innovation Exchange at Results for Development. The Call seeks innovations developed or adapted to address COVID-19-associated disruptions that will remain relevant beyond the pandemic to help accelerate progress towards one or more of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Selected innovators will be invited to participate at the UN’s Virtual STI Forum 2021 taking place on May 4th and 5th. Zamary to serve as Williamson College of Business Administration Entrepreneur in Residence

January 15, 2021 Craig J. Zamary, whose experience includes leadership positions of a world-class technology platform and a media company, is the Entrepreneur in Residence at the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University. Zamary’s primary focus will providing leadership for implementing the NASA Glenn T2U Commercialization initiative. “We are excited to have Craig join the WCBA,” said Betty Jo Licata, WCBA dean. “His entrepreneurial expertise and passion for entrepreneurship education will enable us to create new and innovative opportunities for our students.” T2U (Technology Transfer University) will bring real-world, NASA-proven technologies into the classroom so business students can assess new markets and develop business plans for NASA technologies for commercial use.
