hello and welcome to bbc news. taliban fighters have reached the outskirts of the afghan capital, kabul, after a lightning advance across the country. the militant group now controls all the other major cities in afghanistan, and look to be on the verge of toppling the afghan government. the arrival of the taliban has sparked panic in the city with a populuation of more than four million, as well as tens of thousands of internally displaced afghans. people have been rushing to embassies for visas and stockpiling food. these pictures filmed by the bbc in kabul show people attempting to leave the city. the taliban says negotiations are taking place to ensure a peaceful transition of power. us and british troops have been arriving in afghanistan to evacuate diplomatic staff from their embassies. earlier, thousands of afghans in the capital were seen trying to withdraw their savings from atms as fear gripped the capital. beyond the capital, overnight, the insurgents seized ....
