good morning to viewers here in the united states and all around the world, it is thursday, june 2nd. i m john berman with brianna keilar. and we do begin with the deadliest mass shooting in america since last week. four people killed in tulsa, oklahoma, this time at a hospital complex which, of course, follows mass shootings at an elementary school, a grocery store and a church. this is what we know, tulsa police say the gunman opened fire with a handgun and a rifle before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. fewer than ten people are wounded, none at this point we are told with life-threatening injuries. this is now the 20th mass shooting in america since uvalde just nine days ago according to the gun violence archive. this comes as we learn dramatic new details about the police response at robb elementary school during the standoff there. we will have more on that in a moment. let s begin, though, in tulsa with the latest developments there. lucy kafanov is on the
ports so explosives, several items that could be used to create additional weapons. authorities doctor arranged for a mental health evaluation for that boy. joining us now to talk about the shooting in tulsa is democratic oklahoma state representative melissa pravenzano. thank you so much for being with us. can you give us the latest if there have been any updates since last night? certainly. thank you for having me. first i want to express my profound sorrow to the families of the victims here in tulsa. i can t imagine what it would be like to be in that situation, as well as sincere thanks to our tulsa police, the highway patrol, the county officers and our first responders, they got the call and three minutes later they were in that building and we just couldn t have asked for more. so far, you know what i know at this point. we are still just taking a look and seeing, they have not released the names of the victims and we re just kind of waiting with bated breath. i
through extremely turbulent times, and she has remained constant. i think the respect and adoration that remains for her and it is widespread throughout all those huge upheavals is really testament to the way she s carried herself and responded to people throughout her reign. and it is a more respective representation of the monarchy s role to be custodians of the past but look toward the future. aircraft coming over, representing the battle of britain. we also have very modern aircraft as well. the military very keen to emphasize that everyone you see involved in the military today are working members of the military. and the ones that are on it in particular, the guards, are involved in the covid response. the queen is head of the armed forces. this is a tribute to her and it is quite something. this aircraft coming over us today, emily, i want to bring in a couple of absences on the balcony today. when we talk about the core monarchy, ten years ago prince harry was very
cornwall who will be the next queen consort and her successor the duchess of cambridge but also the three cambridge children. so huge moment for them and for george in particular, he will be king one day. i think we could hear the screaming from the crowds at this end of the mall, couldn t we? people are absolutely delighted to see the children as always. even louis. little louis wearing a sailor s outfit. this is the next generation, this is very much about putting them front and center and showing there s a future here and, you know, you are in safe hands. this is going to continue. you mentioned parliament recently. prince charles stepped in to open parliament which he has never done before. he s also going to be up at horse guards instead of the queen. this is all part of the long term transition, she is optics, this huge pr event frankly is about getting us ready for the next monday arcy. as tasteless as that feels that s one of the crucial roles of monarchy to continue.
