Thunder Bay Centre Of Attention For COVID

Christine Elliott CPAC Screenshot With Thunder Bay now considered one of the leading COVID-19 hotspots in Canada the spotlight is on what the government is doing to help. Provincial Health Minister Christine Elliott says the province is aware of what she calls a difficult situation and they are assisting with extra supports. “We have sent in additional case and contact managers to help support” notes the minister. Elliott says other public health units in the province that are not as busy with the pandemic are also providing support to local health officials. She adds there has been money allotted to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for additional beds in case it reaches capacity.

Warm Weather Ends Next Week

Do not get too comfortable with a warm start to March. Environment Canada meteorologist Gerald Cheng reveals the beginning two weeks of this month will be a bit above normal, but that eventually changes toward the end of March. “It looks like we’re looking at the overall trend of near-normal temperatures,” explains Cheng. “So just be careful with these mild spells because some colder spells might come back.” In fact, the meteorologist adds they expect March, April and May to be warmer than normal. The high on Sunday is forecast to hit 10 degrees but sinks to a high of -1 by next Thursday.
