All but seven of these cases were locally transmitted. Health Ministry director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah also reported 2,293 recoveries. However, this was still an overall increase of more than 1,000 new Covid-19 patients under treatment. To date, 161,740 Covid-19 cases have been recorded, of which 122,344 (75.6 percent) have recovered. Leading indicators: Patients in ICU: 226 ↓ (14 less than the previous day, new record) Intubated patients: 94 ↑ (One more than the previous day) Deaths: 4 (↓ Three less than the previous day) The latest fatalities put the death toll at 605. The four who perished were from Selangor (2), Terengganu (1) and Sabah (1). Details are as follows:

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 18 The Ministry of Health (MOH) has identified nine new Covid-19 clusters in Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Pahang, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Johor and Sabah. The new clusters are dubbed the Era Duta and Jalan Nipah construction site clusters in Kuala Lumpur, Taman Tasik Sg Chua cluster in Selangor, Genting Cafe cluster in Pahang, Pulau Lima cluster in Kelantan, Jalan TJ cluster in Negri Sembilan, Jalan Suria cluster in Johor, and the Bukit Bendera and Serga Mahar clusters in Sabah.

The highest number of cases are in Selangor, which reported 1,213 cases, Sabah (432) and Johor (329). Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said there were 2,293 recoveries, bringing the total number of those discharged to 122,344. ADVERTISEMENT In a statement, Noor Hisham said the total number of infections now stands at 161,740. There are 38,791 active cases with 226 patients receiving intensive care, of which 94 require respiratory assistance. Meanwhile, the four deaths raise the toll to 605. The deaths reported involved three men and a woman aged between 59 to 91. All of them are Malaysians and suffered from other illnesses.
