With the secret science bill is that it asked us to gather information we have no authority to gather and it asks us to release information where i cannot protect peoples personal privacy or confidential Business Information in order to release that publicly. And frankly, the way in which science works in this country is we dont look at the scientists dont exchange all the broad data, although they can and they often do, but they dont have to in order to do scientifically credible ng independent peer review which is the core of how this country has done science forever. Isnt it true that the American Cancer Society did that research independently of the federal government . Federal government . Well, the two issues that started this concern about secret science had to do with the development of basically studies that were developed by the American Cancer Society and harvard, two not unknown or well thought of or poorly thought of entities. And they had information that we sought. We were given the information we had the authority to gather. They offered opportunities for that raw data to be reviewed in oneonone review by researchers, but they are cohort studies. Theyre individuals that are followed for many years. It is theyre great studies. We rely on it. But they are so filled with personal information that it would be impossible to redact that in sheer. So were doing the best we can to get the information out to people that were allowed to release, but in no way does the lack of access to raw data preclude us from relying on these studies and many others that have been the core of how we look at developing National Ambient air quality standards. Thank
Epa is prepared to report summarizing the small entity outreach to date. The results of this outreach and how these results have been formed in the development of the proposed rule. Since publishing the rule, most recently the agencies participated in an epasponsored round table on september 4. We look forward to continuing these efforts in the future and before we finalize the rule and during the remainder of the Public Comment period as we write the final rule. Thank you, again, and ill be happy to answer your questions, mr. Chairman. Thank you, i appreciate it. Congresswoman mccarthy recently visited my state and she was talking about the waters in her state and she made this statement about concerned farmers and others i want to make sure i say it right that the proposed rules and the concerns about the proposed rules are silly and ludicrous, which i will submit the concerns of farmers and Small Businesses and everybody out there are certainly not silly and ludicrous. I think a lot
I think at that point, pakistan will accept that they have given up the notion that the taliban. Re going to take over i think pakistan now feels that afghanistan threatens pakistan. I will say that pakistan would lower its objective and except some kind about, as long as there is some type of taliban and role. Be toitical thing will have an empowered, fairly elected government supported by the supported Afghan People that can rectify the society. That is critical to discussing the things they talk about. I appreciate hearing the words thank you because that is something president karzai never seems to be able to say. With reference to your own view, what would you want the united to help you achieve the type of elections that the Afghan People will have faith and . I will endorse what he said about the elections, but to add on that, one of the critical things is the type of messages that both the afghan Political Leadership and the public receives starting with raising the bar higher
regarding these appointments. half of them took place during the obama administration. and the republicans are not objecting to the qualifications of these appointments. what they are saying is we don t like the agencies that they head. we don t like the environmental protection agency. therefore, we re not going to appoint geno mccarthy. but it has the effect of making sure these nominations go through. are you worried about the impact on the other side? are you worried about the things that have gotten done in the senate? look, an immigration bill was passed, 14 republicans supported it. ten republicans supported the farm bill. 18 republicans. is it poisoning the well to the point where seriously nothing legislatively gets done that you might have had a hope of doing? i really don t think so. i think what the american people perceive and why congress is rated at 10% or 15% is we are not addressing the real problems
