Paris (CNSNews.com) – The U.S.-brokered normalization agreement between Morocco and Israel is drawing mixed views in the North African nation, where President Trump’s recognition of Morocco’s claims in Western Sahara are pleasing some, while others see it as a setback for the Palestinian cause.
The deal, announced by Trump on Thursday, sees Morocco become the fourth Arab country to agree to normalize ties with Israel since August. In return, Trump issued a proclamation recognizing Morocco’s claims in neighboring Western Sahara – something no other nation has done.
