Many who live and work in Bedford County may have looked for an apartment for rent to find not much available and what they do find are expensive.
“We are eager to keep our younger generation in the county and to attract new people to the area,” said Bette Slayton, president of Bedford County Development Association. “The availability of affordable housing is critical to the future of Bedford County.
The availability for apartments for people under 65 is pretty much nonexistent or very limited according to Marylin Otis of RE/MAX Olde Town and Sean Bardell of Howard Hanna.
“It seems like a lot of people who are working want to be downtown, but there are very few rentals available,” said Bardell. ....
