KUALA LUMPUR: Several hotel operators affected by poor business due to the Covid-19 pandemic have put creativity to good use by way of getting customers to come to their hotels.
PETALING JAYA: Some people may be wary of dining-in for now, but so are food operators – with some hesitant to open their doors to the public, even to those who are fully vaccinated.
KUALA LUMPUR, July 28 Many food and beverage businesses find it difficult to sustain themselves by using the services of food delivery apps including Grab and Foodpanda, as the existing commission rates are too high, said the Malaysia Retail Chain Association (MRCA). Its president Shirley Tay.
GEORGE TOWN: While the government looks into rules and regulations, food and beverage operators across Malaysia are pleading with the rakyat to take care of themselves and follow the standard operating procedure.
In Penang, F&B operators fear that another round of the MCO here could lead to the collapse of the sector, with small businesses likely to be the most affected.
Roti canai seller Mohamed Ali Abdul, 48, said if the MCO was implemented again, it would not only cause hardship to him but also to his 10 workers.
“As it is, our business has dwindled as people are scared to eat out. If the government declares another MCO, I fear I have to close for good this time, ” he said at his stall in Jalan Sri Bahari.

GEORGE TOWN: For the second year running, Mother’s Day is going to be a muted affair with almost all restaurants feeling the pinch caused by the movement control order.
Malaysia Retail Chain Association Food and Beverage Chapter chairman Datuk Seri Garry Chua said all dine-in promotions in Kuala Lumpur and Selangor for today’s Mother’s Day had been cancelled due to the latest lockdown.
“Since dining in is not allowed, we can only give discounts for those opting for takeaways.
