After nearly six hours of work, the 800-kilogram cetacean was lifted out of the river by a net and crane at around 4 am and placed on a barge under the immediate care of a dozen veterinarians.
PARIS: The beluga whale which was lifted out of the River Seine earlier on Wednesday has died, despite the mission to save it, according to local authorities.
The beluga whale, which had been stuck at a river lock in Normandy since Friday, was rescued and placed into a barge for medical observation. It died only hours later.
