D.C. received a $21 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education that will be used partly to fund a program aimed at encouraging 480 middle schoolers in Wards 7 and 8 to create a plan to attend college.
During last week’s Somerset Independent Board of Education’s meeting, board members heard from Ashley Waters, GEAR UP Academic Specialist, who gave the board an annual report on the program.
