Education MEC Fundile Gade has come to the assistance of a family for the burial of a 13-year-old Grade 8 pupil who was fatally shot, allegedly by a security guard, at his Lusikisiki school.
A security guard was arrested on Friday after killing a 13-year-old teenager and injuring his friend when he found them at the Matafeni Junior Secondary School in Lusikisiki, where they were using the school Wi-Fi.
The Mthatha high court has ordered Eastern Cape premier Oscar Mabuyane and education MEC Fundile Gade to remove pit toilets and fix classrooms and add sports facilities to at least five schools. In his judgment on May 10, judge Richard Brooks ruled the failure to provide adequate toilets, classrooms and sports facilities was in breach of the constitution.
