((sharie johnson)) and a similar situation yesterday after a 48 year old man died from an apparent scuba diving accident. he has been identified as fred arnold from tampa florida. c-b-s florida reports he was a 27 year verteran at the tampa police department. the incident happened yesterday around 1-30. authorities received a call that arnold surfaced but was unconscious. crews tried to revive the diver but he was later pronounced dead. the coroners office has yet to determit ((sharie johnson)) meanwhile five days after it closed, lake las vegas is back open following heavy monsoon rains this week. it s a routine process to keep everyone safe. our 8 news now reporter shakala alvaranga explains why. lake for 5 days. lake las vegas looks just like it used to. when it s closed down, the only thing it s closed down to is bodily contact, so you can still go out on the boat, but we don t reccommend swimming, we don t even allow swimming for that 5 days. the lake can t operate . when there s an overflow from a storm . we sample the lake for 5 days, we send it off for testing to ensure there are no contaminants that would be harmful to any human contact with the lake. the lake closed on tuesday . after rain flooded parts of the valley. water that came in a half hour over the nellis area and then it finally ended up here which is the way it usually does. nellis airforce base saw 1.9 inches of rain from that same storm . the tests are taken to make sure the water isn t contaminated. i have grandchildren i ve had in this lake. i would not let them swim in the lake if i thought it wasn t safe. the opening comes just in time for this year s country in the great meats, we ve
