The Mashpee Board of Health during its meeting last Thursday, April 1, conditionally approved the marijuana cultivation permit for Aspen Blue LLC at 14 Wags Road, provided the recommendations the board made are met.
First among the health board s recommendations are that the conditions, recommendations and manufacturer specifications within the Odor Mitigation Plan are incorporated into the board s decision that the noise-attenuating material and sound barriers are provided around the chiller air cooler and generator.
The second is that the $300 operating permit fee is paid. Third, the requirements and proposals depicted on the submitted site plan be completed before cultivation permit issuance, as an example water drains and a tight tank. An agent of the health board will confirm the tank, and the specifications and calculations for the air discharge blower and stack will be provided to the board of health to confirm it meets the odor mitigation plan.

Bentley Companies, a Rhode Island-based operation and the potential master developer for the Tremont Nail Factory property, presented its vision for the Tremont property to the Wareham Redevelopment Authority on Feb. 11.
Bentley Companies said it sees the site as one with the potential for office space, retail establishments and a brewery or restaurant of some sort. The developer’s vision also includes a waterfront community park complete with a pier, boardwalk and kayak rentals.
The proposal is one step toward the town’s goal of redeveloping the Tremont Nail property, which was originally built in the 19th century. Steel cut nails were manufactured on site in the “steel building” as recently as 2006. Stonington The Stonington Free Library has completed a $933,000 expansion and renovation project that improves handicapped access to the 120-year-old building but also creates more space for materials and programs.
The library has raised all the funds for the project as a part of a $1.8 million capital campaign, which is 98% complete. Funding for the project came from state and local governments as well as private donors and organizations such as the Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation and the Wimpfheimer Foundation.
The project has it origins back in 2010, when a flood damaged the library s wheelchair lift. That meant patrons with disabilities were unable to access the basement level, where the children s area is located, from the ground floor. The lift could not be fixed, the building did not meet handicapped accessibility codes and the lack of accessibility immediately concerned Director Belinda DeKay and Assistant Director Micayla Hall.
