U.S. Deputy Marshal Frank Boardman Eaton, who was the inspiration for Pistol Pete, Oklahoma State University’s mascot, died 64 years ago, but his spirit lived recently as his family and 28 former Pistol Pete mascots were on hand as Eaton was inducted into the Hall of Great Westerners in the National Cowboy and Western Heritage Museum.
The National Cowboy Museum’s Hall of Great Westerners will soon induct famed lawman Frank Eaton the inspiration for Oklahoma State University’s Pistol Pete mascot. Eaton is among honorees who will be recognized at the 61st Western Heritage Awards , April 8-9 at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City.
