The Edo State government has trained 200 tax managers in the state to boost its tax generation drive. The governor, Godwin Obaseki said his government was determined to revolutionise the state’s tax administration and improve revenue generation systems to ensure delivery of government’s promise of making Edo great again.
This is just as the governor, who was on tour of facilities at the Government Science and Technical College (GSTC) Phase 2 at the weekend, also said the state’s newly rebuilt technical college would train over 5,000 technicians yearly upon completion.
He said his government was committed to transforming the education sector and ensuring the right atmosphere for human capital development.

BENIN CITY – Edo government, on Thursday in Benin, said it had commenced the training of 200 youths in the state as tax managers and officers to ensure accountability and transparency in the system.
Gov. Godwin Obaseki of Edo stated this shortly after declaring up a five-day training for the new tax managers and officers.
He said that the new officials would help the state in data and information collection to ensure adequate economic planning.
According to him, “We are resetting the economic landscape of Edo. We have about 1,000 of them to help us collect data across the state.
“They are helping us to collect information and data for us to use in economic planning. These people are beyond mere revenue collectors or revenue agents.

Obaseki disclosed this during the flag-off of a 5-day training workshop for 200 Tax Relationship Managers and Officers at the Government House in Benin City.
The newly appointed revenue collectors will ensure that tax assessments generated are effectively served to taxpayers across the state’s 18 local government councils, ensuring that the assessments are acceptable and payments made accordingly.
