Elsa will strike North Florida Wednesday morning either as a strong tropical storm or minimal hurricane, spreading gusty winds, heavy rain, and dangerous coastal surge to much of the Florida Gulf Coast.
Per the National Hurricane Center’s 8 p.m. advisory, Elsa became a hurricane again with maximum sustained winds at 75 mph, with the center of circulation located more than 100 miles south-southwest of Tampa, moving north at around 14 mph.
This general motion will continue overnight, and Elsa will likely cross the Big Bend coastline near Cedar Key sometime on Wednesday morning.
