Iran Said To Return ‘Missing’ Armenian Plane

An Armenian government agency said on Thursday that civil aviation authorities in neighboring Iran have pledged to return an Armenian passenger aircraft that mysteriously landed in Tehran last month.
The Boeing 737-300 leased by Fly Armenia Airways, a private carrier, reportedly went missing on February 20 for still unclear reasons.
The company said that the plane underwent repairs in Estonia’s capital Tallinn and was due to proceed to Ukraine for further maintenance. It said the plane ended up at Tehran’s Mehrabad airport due to technical problems that emerged during that flight.
Other reports claimed that the plane took off from the Bulgarian city of Varna and was due to fly to Sharjah airport in the United Arab Emirates. ....

A Boeing 737-300 operated by Fly Armenia vanished in Iran. The aircraft was supposed to be heading to Ukraine for maintenance ahead of its entry into service with the airline. It deviated from the planned flight path and declared an emergency over Iran.

Where did the 737 go?
On February 19
th, a Boeing 737 operated by Fly Armenia left its storage in Tallinn, Estonia, to undergo maintenance ahead of entry into service. The 737-300, registered EK-FAA, departed Tallinn just after 08:00 GMT; its destination, according to Armenian authorities, should have been Hostomel in Ukraine, where it would be brought into shape and returned to the airline at a later date. ....

Fly Armenia Airways: Ongoing Issues Prevent the Carrier From Taking to the Skies
Fly Armenia Airways, which was established in October 2019 and received a certificate of aircraft operator on July 2 this year, cannot take to the skies yet. The reason is that Armenia’s Civil Aviation Committee (CAC) suspended the validity of the Air Operator’s Certificate (AOC), only two months after its issuance, on September 3.
It was initially suspended for a month, which was later extended for another month.
Hetq sent a request to the CAC to clarify why Fly Armenia Airways’ license was suspended and whether it was resumed after November 3. On December 8, CAC Secretary General Mikael Zalinyan stated that the operation was suspended because the initial grounds for the suspension had not been fixed. ....
