Frightening moment in monterey when a plane left the airport and didnt make it very far. Reporter thats right. It all happened in a fairly short period of time. The small plane took off shortly before 11 00. It crashed into a home nearby in a gated community in the hills. The craft did extensive damage to the home and sparked a few fires nearby. Reports say the owners of the home in the Mawn Terra Development were not in the home from. Some of the flame also caused spot fires in the brush. We had two firefighting efforts that were directed to the structure itself, make sure we control that fire and that the brush in the area, any fire in that trees and brush on theland did not spread to other parts of the neighborhood.
