On Thursday, a Lamar County jury convicted John Alfred Petersen of Criminal Mischief $2,500-$30,000 in a trial before Judge Bill Harris of the County Court-at-Law, according to First Assistant District Attorney Benjamin I. Kaminar.
âThe defendant used his motorized wheelchair to repeatedly ram a car waiting in the pickup line at Crockett Intermediate School, causing over $3000 worth of damage,â Kaminar said. âOther parents attempted to intervene and one recorded the incident on her cell phone.â
After hearing testimony about the incident and watching the recording, the jury returned a guilty verdict in under five minutes. During the punishment phase, the jurors heard testimony about Petersen being on probation for a similar episode of vandalism that happened in December 2018. A Lamar County jury sentenced a 32-year-old Roxton resident to 99 years in prison Monday after a one-day trial, according to information from the Lamar County District Attorneyâs office.
A jury found Brady Allan Goss, a registered sex offender, guilty of solicitation of a minor, according to information from First Assistant District Attorney Benjamin Kaminar.
âThe defendant used the Facebook Messenger application to contact someone he believed was a 14-year old girl,â Kaminar said. âOver the court of several conversations, he repeatedly discussed meeting for sex and described specific sexual acts he desired from her.â
Unknown to the defendant, Oklahoma law enforcement had control of the Facebook account and conducted a sting operation in partnership with the Lamar County Sheriffâs Office. The defendant was captured at a meetup location and confessed to the offense, Kaminar said.
