During spring semester, 18 community-listening sessions gathered input about the twin memorials that will honor enslaved individuals and their descendants who lived and worked on Emory’s original campus at Oxford College.

CHARLOTTESVILLE (WINA) – City Council has a public hearing tonight about the Bridge Progressive Arts Institute assuming the lease of the Free Speech Wall on the Downtown Mall. The First Amendment Monument was erected in 2005 by the Thomas Jefferson Institute for Protection of Free Expression and was to have come down under the lease agreement as the TJ Center disbanded as an entity and rolled operations into the UVa law school.
However, instead of taking it down, they located Bridge PAI who wants to take charge of it… and the lease would agree to repair and maintain the wall, as well as maintain a $1-million liability insurance policy.
