He has the reasonable position, saying, look, why don t we start direct negotiations, no pre-conditions at all, and, abbas is rejecting that, i should point out and as an indication he feels, his position is weak and the net result is there are no negotiatio negotiations. eric: doesn t that as you say give advantage to netanyahu, the fact abbas refuses to sit down and talk? that s right. and, that is why i don t think the situation will necessarily last. it is very complicated. i think president obama is now reported to be pressuring the palestinians to sit down with out the pre-conditions, which would appear to be a weakening of the obama line, but, it may well be that that simply was would increase pressure on israel if negotiation actually have begun. i think, a lot of this is maneuvering for domestic political consumption both in israel and the u.s. and the palestinian territories.
