The Court also ordered the Centre and Rajasthan government to constitute a Joint High Powered Committee to address the shortcomings in implementation of various welfare schemes meant for pregnant women.
The Delhi High Court rejected the argument that the use of the expression ‘Central Government’ gives the impression that State governments are subordinate to the Union Government.
The Court also held that the elections cannot be put on hold till restoration of statehood in the region and directed the Election Commission of India to take steps to conduct elections in J&K by September 30, 2024.
