America as a nation was founded through rebellion, while America as an idea is perhaps the most revolutionary in human history giving its power to the people, not the government. As a result, throughout American history, when the people feel as though their government is infringing on their liberty, they have rebelled against that government.
Often this results in senseless bloodshed, but sometimes it leads to real, lasting change.

Daniel Shays wasn’t happy. After helping the Colonies win their independence as a Captain in the Continental Army ten years earlier, he returned to his farm and had hoped to live out his days peacefully with his family.
