Four crews are currently at the scene. A video has been shared on social media showing bats fleeing from the blaze. The fire is burning near Riverview Drive. Last week images revealed the first glimpse of the design were released, also showing how the design team will retain and restore the existing brick façade. Member for Maryborough Bruce Saunders said the project would be a win for jobs in the region. He said he believed the project should set a precedent, with Mr Saunders saying he believed any new State Government building, or any building to be built in the community, should be built from local timber that was manufactured locally, keeping jobs in the region. ....
Premium Content Subscriber only A contract to deliver Maryborough s new $12.1 million fire and emergency services station has been awarded to timber manufacturer Hyne Timber and building firm Hutchinson Builders. Representing Minister Fire and Emergency Services Mark Ryan, Maryborough MP Bruce Saunders made the announcement today.
With a first of its kind in Australia concept, the new complex will deliver enhanced facilities for fire and emergency services officers, staff and volunteers while also supporting local jobs, he said.
The move paves the way for preliminary works to begin at the existing site in the coming months before major construction gets underway in the second half of 2021. ....
