Supreme Court Delights Conservatives With Action on Wish List

Supreme Court Delights Conservatives With Action on Wish List Bloomberg 18 hrs ago © Bloomberg Fate Of Biden s $4 Trillion Economic Plan Now In Congress Hands (Bloomberg) The U.S. Supreme Court is offering hints of the kind of paradigm shift conservatives have long craved by adding major abortion and gun-rights cases to its docket. Seven months after Amy Coney Barrett became the third Donald Trump appointee on the court, it’s moving to address some of the top items on longstanding conservative wish lists. In the coming weeks, the justices could also add an affirmative action showdown to the mix, giving them a trio of hot-button clashes for the nine-month term that starts in October.

Biden's Supreme Court Commission Sworn In, Holds First Session

Biden’s Supreme Court Commission Sworn In, Holds First Session Bloomberg 5 hrs ago © Bloomberg Fate Of Biden s $4 Trillion Economic Plan Now In Congress Hands (Bloomberg) President Joe Biden’s Supreme Court commission held its first public meeting Wednesday, two days after the conservative-controlled court agreed to consider rolling back abortion rights. The 20-minute online session was devoted to formalities. The 33 members who attended took their oaths and several commissioners laid out the scope of their work, which will including analyzing proposals to expand the court, limit its powers and impose term limits on the justices. “We are to critically evaluate arguments and claims,” said Cristina Rodriguez, a former Democratic Justice Department official who is one of the commission’s co-chairs. “The president has expressly charged us with considering a broad spectrum of ideas.”
