Northwestern University officials expect to decide in early May on potential vaccine requirements for students, according to Provost Kathleen Hagerty.
Northwestern University officials expect to decide in “early May” on “potential vaccine requirements for students,” according to Provost Kathleen Hagerty.
A small but growing number of universities nationwide, including Loyola in Chicago, will mandate COVID-19 shots for students in the fall.
In a letter posted on the NU website, Hagerty also said, “@e intend to be in-person for the Fall Terms to the extent that public health guidance will allow.”
Most Northwestern classes have been held remotely since the coronavirus pandemic began in March 2020. Some courses have used a hybrid model, part in-person and part online. ....

As Northwestern approaches the end of the 2020-21 academic year, you are likely thinking about your personal and professional plans for the summer and fall. Today, we provide some updates to offer additional clarity on what we anticipate the next several months will bring.

Expected timeline for increasing our on-campus presence in anticipation of the start of classes in the fall.
Details about the final extension and phaseout of the Alternative Work Arrangements policy.

After traveling from Greece to Grinnell, taking a total of four flights stopping in Munich, Washington D.C., Chicago and finally Des Moines, Inna Gjoleka `21 is back in Grinnell for the first time since March 2020, when students were forced to vacate campus.
Gjoleka says she didn’t mind being in Greece because it gave her the opportunity to spend more time with her family. Still, when the College announced fourth-year students would be invited back to campus for Spring Term 2, she was eager to return to finish out her final semester with her classmates.
“It felt more like closure this way. I didn’t want it to be my last memory of Grinnell, being sort of kicked out in March of last year because of the pandemic,” Gjoleka said. ....
