Police transfers go ahead after initial hitch

Previously, one of the transfers involving the post of Kuala Lumpur police chief was supposed to have taken place last Friday (April 9) but was postponed on the order of the Police Force Commission (SPP). Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Abdul Hamid Bador said the handing-over ceremony for the Kuala Lumpur police chief s post went on smoothly on Tuesday (April 13). Comm Datuk Saiful Azly Kamaruddin handed over the reins to Comm Datuk Azmi Abu Kassim, who was previously the Management Department deputy director.

Cops believe murder of manager solved Pix for illustration purposes. KAJANG: Police believe they have solved the murder of a 32-year-old manager with the arrest of a male colleague today. Selangor police CID chief SAC Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said that upon questioning the 57-year-old suspect, he led police to several locations where items linked to the case were seized. “We received information after questioning the suspect and carried out a series of raids where we found items that could help in investigations. The case has been solved in less than 24 hours after it was opened for investigations.” he said. On Monday morning, Nik Khatijah Nik Mud, a staff of non-governmental organisation Ikram Malaysia, was found strangled to death at her rented house in Taman Bangi, Jalan Reko, here, over 24 hours after she was killed.

KAJANG: Police arrested a 57-year-old man yesterday to assist in investigations in the murder of a staff of non-governmental organisation, Ikram Malaysia. Selangor police CID chief SAC Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said today that the suspect was picked up by investigators at about 8.45pm yesterday. He said police have obtained a six-day remand order to hold the man in custody for further investigations. On Monday morning, the body of 32-year-old Nik Khatijah Nik Mud was found at her rented house in Taman Bangi, Jalan Reko, Kajang.

PETALING JAYA : The 34-year-old founder of controversial dating site Sugarbook.com is expected to be charged in court tomorrow for “circulating a statement that can cause public alarm”. Selangor police CID chief SAC Datuk Fadzil Ahmat said today that the suspect will face the charges under Section 505(b) of the Penal Code at the Shah Alam Magistrate’s Court at 9am. The man who was arrested by police at the compound of a plush condominium, the Icon Residence on Persiaran Dutamas in the evening of Feb 17 was remanded for seven days on Friday.
