I enjoyed reading it. i am puzzled by why is banned. it is visceral. it is real. it s, unless you are a super prude, it uses language and references that everybody uses. if any parents doesn t think their kid knows about stuff like this, that is just weird and prudish and out of sync with everything. what is your sense of why this book is banned? i think people are afraid. i say this as a parent. i have a fourth grader and a kindergarten. and, like i understand the impulse and the instinct to try to keep these children safe and innocent. the difference between my children and the parents of children who can cry out against this book is that they have to know the information in the book to stay safe. mine have to know this information. so my hope is that instead of leaning into this fear that your kids are going to be exposed to something in a book
Airport, which is the international side, that everybody uses, won t be reopening for months. commercial flights. and that s number one. number two is, of course, what s the situation for the people here. well, we just learned from the governor of st. martin on the dutch side that 85% of structures and buildings are uninhabitable. partly or totally destroyed. so that number alone puts the scale on the destruction here. there is little to no power. people are still eating the food that they stocked up on before the hurricane. and the water on the dutch side, they depend on the dutch military to give them water. the first signal that i m getting is that people are thirsty and people are hungry. not starving. but they re hungry because they re rationing themselves. this is the situation, and then on top of that, there is a security concern. in the first few days after this happened, they saw people looting. and people still feel unsafe.
Welcome back to the lead. in our money lead, what should have been a big week for apple ended up fairly meh. the company unveiled some new products including an upgraded iphone and a cheaper version and a kaleidoscope of colors but when a chart of your stock over the past week looks like a cliff, i wouldn t exactly put the week in the win column. this leaves apple maniacs asking what would steve jobs do? let s bring in steve jobs expert, walter isaacson, president and ceo of the aspen institute and former chairman and ceo of cnn. his new york times bestseller, steve jobs was released in paperback this week with a younger jobs featured on the cover. what was the reasoning behind that? why the younger as he would say, think different. that wonderful albert watson picture that s on the hardback, he s doing that same pose and it became iconic but it was one that the company uses, everybody uses. i thought well, let s try something different. but that wasn t photoshop?
