Spain joined the eurozone and adopted the euro over 20 years ago but Spanish people are still holding onto their old national currency. While some are holding the currency for nostalgic reasons, some businesses are still accepting them.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) and cash-strapped Pakistan on Tuesday reached an agreement over reforms paving the way for imbursement of USD 500 million as part of revival of a stalled bailout programme, the finance ministry said. The IMF had agreed in 2019 to provide Pakistan USD 6 billion under a 39-month Extended Fund Facility (EFF) arrangement but it was disrupted due to COVID-19 pandemic last year. Advisor on Finance Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh announced on social media that the agreement was reached at a stall-level meeting between the two sides. I would like to share that the Government of Pakistan has reached a staff level agreement with the IMF. Overcoming the challenges created by the pandemic has required concerted effort, he tweeted.

The League leader, known for his historic eurosceptic stance, has come under attack in the past few weeks for appearing to have backtracked on anti-EU policies as he backed former European Central Bank chief Draghi to become the new Italian Prime Minister. But mere days after his party was awarded three seats around the new Cabinet, Mr Salvini has already delivered his first provocation to the new Italian leader, allowing a comeback of his more familiar stance on the EU.

Italy s 10-year bond yield hovered close to one-month lows on Monday, as Mario Draghi s prospects of forming a new government received a boost after the two largest parties in the Italian parliament offered their conditional backing.
