The prescribed burns are taking place in both San Luis Obispo County as well as in Santa Barbara County in order to prevent future fires in the region.
– California State Parks is planning to begin a series of prescribed burns in several coastal park units from Oct. 2022 through March 2023. The effort will be carried out in cooperation with Cal Fire, the San Luis Obispo County Air Pollution Control District, and the Morro Bay Fire Department.
– A new exhibition opening at the Morro Bay State Park Museum of Natural History examines the impact of World War II on the Central Coast, and especially on the San Luis Obispo Coast District of California State Parks. This exhibition, sponsored by the Central Coast State Parks Association, will launch on April 27 and will remain on display through summer 2022.
