Petaluma is set to move forward on another environmental initiative. At its next meeting on May 3rd, the Petaluma city council are set to ban natural gas hookups in future residential and non-residential construction. The move to all electric requirements would mark Petaluma as the third city to make such a move after Santa Rosa and Windsor, though the latter backed down after legal challenges. Petaluma City Attorney Eric Danly tells the Argus Courier that he doesn’t think this ordinance will face the same legal hurdles as it’s connected to the building code rather than the energy code.
