Wichita man arrested for car burglaries in Arkansas City
A 34-year-old Wichita man is facing multiple charges for a string of car burglaries in Arkansas City.
An investigation started on Thursday, May 6, when a person discovered their car had been stolen. It was shut down and recovered using OnStar. Police began getting more reports of people’s cars being broken into along with another car theft.
“This crime spree spanned all four patrol shifts, with more than 20 reports of vehicle burglary, trespassing and vehicle theft,” said Interim Police Chief Eric Burr. “Property crimes such as these are difficult to solve, with little to no physical evidence from which to work. Our investigations team worked in tandem with patrol officers and neighboring jurisdictions to put us in a position to make an arrest in these cases. We would like to offer many thanks to the Wellington Police Department for its assistance!”

Several employees of the Arkansas City Fire-EMS Department and Arkansas City Police Department were honored Tuesday night with Life Saving Awards, according to a news release from the City of Ark City.
The awards were presented during a City Commission meeting to the personnel involved in administering CPR to and stabilizing a cardiac arrest victim Nov. 6, 2020, at Walmart, 2701 N. Summit St.
