Minutes. Welcome. My name is acharya and im codirector of the Policy Lab at claremont mckenna college. It is my pleasure to welcome you all here today to a conversation about modernization in congress. This is a followup to a discussion we held on october 16 where we had the opportunity to discuss congresss diminished role in the constitutional system. Id like to thank you with the program, social, cultural studies for hosting the event, and George Thomas for sponsoring and organizing this event, as well. Were very fortunate to hold this because the timing is certainly right. We started talking about this in october. We had some rather, you know, broad discussions of article 1 powers and the kind of, you know, wellworn thesis about congress, how it had withdrawn from the separation of powers that had been dominated by the executive.
