this week the house select committee investigating january 6th wrapped up its summer series of hearings with the season finale of sorts. in a primetime event, they presented devastating evidence detailing the hours donald trump spent refusing to act as a angry mob tried to stop the certification of the 2020 election by force. even when it was clear the insurrection would not achieve its aims, did the commander-in-chief collin s meg army to step down? no. even a dalia later, never before seen outtakes show the president was unwilling to admit that the election was over. the bombshell hearings left me with plenty of questions. will the former president or anyone else in a position of authority ever be held accountable? will congress have the courage to strengthen the election system that trump and his allies sought to undermine. and we ll be hearing sway voters as they head to the polls in the midterm elections? we ve got a great lineup to talk about it, including minnesota s s

we re almost at 10 million jobs, almost at 10 million jobs since i took office. that s the fastest job growth in history. today there are more people working in america than before the pandemic began. in fact, there are more people working in america than at any point in american history. cnn business correspondent rahel solomon joins me now. put this into context. what do these numbers actually mean? not only did these numbers surprise to the upside, but it was broad based across the economy. when you look at the report line after line, industry after industry saw positive job growth. leisure and hospitality the strongest with 96,000 added for the month of july. professional services, health care, government, all adding jobs. we know wages increased about 5.2% over the last year and wage gains are something the fed is going to be watching closely as it tries to fight inflation. more on that in just a moment. as you pointed out, the unemployment rate now ticking lower to
white house and peter doocy in saudi arabia. peter, we ll start things off with you. and here in saudi arabia, the leaders of telling president biden they can help expand their oil production capacity, but only a little bit. so, if president biden came here thinking he was going to get saudi arabia to increase their oil production capacity so much that it might lower gas prices back at home, he s leaving emptyhanded. in this era, announced increase of the level maximum sustainable capacity more than 13 million barrels, beyond that the kingdom will not have any further production capacity. so, what this means, they can expand to 13 million barrels a day max, but they re already at 12 million barrels a day capacity. at most they could add the same number barrels a day the president is selling from the strategic reserve and that s not really lowering prices a ton. so, it s unclear at this point if the president was overselling what he said he squeezed out of the saudis.
