HUDSON COVID-19 case activity in the county is still very high, after cases began increasing in March.Â
The countyâs 7 day average of new cases is at 30, Epidemiologist Elle Klasen told the county board on Tuesday, May 4.Â
St. Croix County is one of only a few countries that have the very high case activity, Klasen said. Pierce, Polk Sawyer and Burnett are also in the same category.Â
Case numbers are rising in the 11to 17 year-old and 18 to 24 year-old age range. Vaccinations have led to less activity in the higher age groups, Klasen said.Â
The caseload comes at a time when the public health department had begun lowering staff. The department is still contacting every positive case by phone as well as close contacts.Â
